Tara Malone is a New York based Director, Executive Producer and Photographer with over twenty years of experience in visual media.  She began her career producing for the Emmy Award winning program A Baby Story and went on to create diverse content for Netflix, Hulu, MAX, NatGeo, OWN, A&E, Condé Nast and ID.

As a visual storyteller, Tara seeks out opportunities to spotlight social justice content, amplifying voices of survivors and activists.  While writing and directing for the series Vanity Fair Confidential, her pieces investigated cases of violence against women, the opioid epidemic, and sex trafficking.  In 2020, Tara joined the post-production team of Netflix’s hit series Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel by veteran filmmaker Joe Berlinger. She assumed the role of Supervising Producer on the series, which debuted in early 2021, reaching tens of millions worldwide.

On the heels of that success, Tara stepped up as series Director and Showrunner at Talos Films for a 3-part documentary on institutional abuse within the "Troubled" Teen Industry (slated to stream on MAX in 2024).  She then became the series Director and Co-Executive Producer, for the ABC News Studios & HULU documentary series, The Age of Influence.  This six-part anthology examines the dark side of influencer culture through today’s biggest social media scandals.

Her latest directing project, FALLEN IDOLS: NICK AND AARON CARTER premieres across two nights on Monday, May 27 and Tuesday, May 28 from 9-11PM ET/PT on ID and streaming on Max. Produced by Ish Entertainment, FALLEN IDOLS explores the accusations of sexual assault against Nick Carter, while also diving into Aaron Carter’s, struggles with mental health and substance abuse - and the rift that occurred after Aaron decided to support his brother’s accusers.
